FOUNDATIONAL STATEMENT

New Hope Christian School’s philosophy is that Christ is the center of life, and every pursuit should honor Him!

Traditional, Classical Philosophy of Education

A traditional philosophy of education provides a strong and time tested framework for developing both academic excellence and personal responsibility in students. By emphasizing clear instruction and consistent review, this approach ensures that foundational knowledge is firmly established rather than left to chance through experience alone.

A curriculum oriented model maintains intentional academic progression and prevents gaps in learning, because teacher directed classrooms provide the guidance, expertise, and structure students need to master essential skills. Structured environments create stability and clear expectations, allowing students to focus on growth rather than navigating permissive or uncertain boundaries. Traditional education also promotes individual accountability, helping students take ownership of their work, decisions, and progress an essential preparation for real world responsibilities. Finally, a strong emphasis on character training recognizes that education is not only about knowledge but also about forming disciplined, respectful, and principled individuals. Together, these elements create a balanced and purposeful educational model that prioritizes mastery, order, responsibility, and the development of strong character alongside academic achievement. Philosophy of Christian Curriculum

A Christian curriculum seeks to cultivate thoughtful, discerning students who learn to engage the world through a distinctly biblical worldview. Our approach to content, instruction, and educational philosophy is intentionally designed to strengthen students’ understanding of Scripture and encourage its practical application in daily life.

Grounded in sound scholarship, practical wisdom, and the unchanging truth of God’s Word, our curriculum provides both academic rigor and spiritual formation. Each grade level introduces meaningful new learning while reinforcing previously mastered concepts, ensuring steady intellectual and spiritual growth year after year. We believe Christian education extends beyond academics, partnering with the church and family to fulfill God’s mandate for discipleship as reflected in Deuteronomy 6:7, Proverbs 22:6, and 2 Timothy 3:15–17. Therefore, we carefully select instructional materials and resources that reflect a Christ centered perspective, along with a classical approach, supporting our commitment to nurture students in both truth and faith.

Character Training

Character training is one of the supreme goals of Christian education, and we believe children must be faithfully guided line upon line, precept upon precept, day after day. To train is to exercise, discipline, teach, and shape students through consistent practice so that what they learn becomes part of their character and daily conduct.

Because training builds right habits, it is intentionally woven throughout every part of the school day. Our desire is to help students learn to respect authority, pay attention, obey willingly and promptly, apply themselves fully to each task, understand and follow rules, give their best effort, and develop a strong work ethic. We intentionally cultivate habits of orderliness, carefulness, obedience, honesty, accomplishment, cooperation, perseverance, self control, attentiveness, fairness, confidence, responsibility, effort, steadfastness, discipline, endurance, helpfulness, neatness, patience, sound judgment, and respect. Through this consistent and purposeful approach, we seek to build a solid foundation year after year, developing not only knowledge and skills, but also the attitudes and character that will guide students throughout their lives.
